Why did you choose this program?
Program Testimonials
I chose the IES business and international affairs program in Paris, France. When I was 14, my mom surprised my sister and I with a trip to Paris. I fell in love with the city and after spending only a week there, I knew I needed to go back. When it came time to look into study abroad programs at Wofford, I ruled out going to France as I am not a French major. However, the IES BIA program quickly proved my assumption wrong as it is an English-based program located in Paris. I believed this program was meant for me, I could live in the beautiful city I always wanted, without the requirement of being a French major.

What was your housing situation like?
Program Testimonials
In Paris, I lived in an independent apartment. The concept was unique as I lived in the same building as fellow IES students but the rooms were intermixed with actual French residents. It provided a way to live like the French do in Paris. Living independently was something to get used to, as even at Wofford we have roommates. However, I really enjoyed the experience and as a bonus I got my own bathroom, which I have never had in America!

What was your favorite class and why?
Program Testimonials
I had the opportunity to take an Art History class while abroad. It was a class focusing on the art and architecture throughout Paris. I absolutely loved this class because we learned about the rich history and incorporation of art in the place we were currently living in. The class incorporated field studies to museums, famous landmarks, as well as historical areas. Examples include, Le Louvre, Notre Dame, Musée d'Orsay, and Le Marais. It was an amazing experience to learn about something in class that we had the ability to visit firsthand.

What did you gain from studying abroad?
Program Testimonials
Studying abroad was an amazing experience. I encourage everyone to take advantage of any travel opportunities given. Looking back I have explored much of the world and made friends that would not have been possible if I had not studied abroad. I believe I have gained a better outlook on the world after getting a taste of how large and diverse it truly is. My best piece of advice is to keep an open mind, leaving your comfort zone sometimes is okay.
