Budget estimate based on Spring 2023 fees (Updated 10/26/2022)
For published program dates: February 25 - June 24, 2023**

1. Additional billable fees: Students taking AN364: The Making of Patagonia will be billed an additional Field Study fee of $700.

2. Housing & Included Meals: The figure above is for those staying in the homestays.  Those opting for an Apartment are billed a supplemental fee of $1,200 approximately one month after the program begins.  Homestays include 12 meals per week. No meals are included in student apartments. See below for differences in meal costs.

3. Local Transportation: Ranges from $300-$500.

4. Educational Travel: Optional IES field trips range from $45 - $865.

5. Visa: Includes security documentation fee and visa application fee (paid onsite).

6. Books & Supplies: Textbooks and course packets range in costs from $150 - $400.

7. Passport: The estimated cost above includes the $60 fee for expedited service. Due to COVID-19 and its impact on the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. State Department is currently experiencing delays in receiving passport applications with routine processing service estimated to take as long as 11 weeks. We, therefore, recommend that students send their application using USPS’ Priority Mail Express and consider requesting expedited service if you able. Click here for more information on securing a passport.

8. Additional meals: The out-of-pocket cost of additional meals varies by housing type. The figure above is for those staying in Homestays. Students staying in the Apartments should budget $2,000 for meals, since no meals are provided.

Please note you may have additional expenses related to required or recommended immunizations. The Wofford College Office of International Programs urges you to consult our program materials, the Centers for Disease Control website, and your healthcare provider to assess such needs.

Pre-departure testing requirements depend upon your program's airline and destination requirements for boarding and entry. Your program should inform you of any requirements before your departure. COVID-19 testing costs vary based on the type of test and the testing facility and may be free with proof of insurance or under a federal program for the uninsured. See a list of U.S. COVID-19 testing locations for more information.

Your actual costs will vary from this estimate prepared by the Office of International Programs. Please compare this estimate to the information that you receive from your program and personalize it based on your chosen program options and personal plans. The Financial Aid Office utilizes this cost estimate when approving scholarships, grants and student loans for use when studying away from campus. All of the above expenses with the exception of independent travel and personal expenses may be used in configuring your financial aid package. Once you are admitted, you may contact the Financial Aid Office with questions regarding your financial aid package.
