We want to hear about your experience!
Why did you choose this program?
Program Testimonials
I can honestly say that this was not my first choice of place to go for study abroad. It was actually my third choice, but I am saying with one hundred percent sincerity that I never regretted for a single day that Freiburg is where I ended up studying.
— Kirkland Dickson, Fall 2015
What was your favorite aspect of this program?
Program Testimonials
Hiking and outdoor activities were involved in almost every class that I took while in this program. Hikes occurred every other day and the class made field trips to the Swiss Alps and various parts of France in order to get a hands-on look at what we were studying.
— Kirkland Dickson, Fall 2015
What was your housing situation like?
Program Testimonials
I lived in university housing that had me in a flat with five other university students. One person was in my IES program with me while the others were studying directly at Uni-Freiburg. This meant that I was able to meet Germans rather easily because I lived with them!
— Kirkland Dickson, Fall 2015
What was your favorite class and why?
Program Testimonials
I had two favorite classes while in Freiburg. I enjoyed Ecosystems Management and Ecosystems and Management of Forest Landscapes in Southwest Germany and the Southern Swiss Alps. These classes were the most outdoor oriented and focused on getting the students out into the field.
— Kirkland Dickson, Fall 2015
What was your favorite class and why?
Program Testimonials
I liked my Black Forest ecosystems class because it involved multiple excursions. The professor was good.
— Joseph Hanna, Spring 2017
What did you gain from studying abroad?
Program Testimonials
I studied abroad in place where I knew no one. There were no friends for me to attach to or fall back on, nothing to hold me back from having to embrace this opportunity for what it was. I was given the opportunity to explore everything and anything, and from that I gained the confidence to do so. I made best friends, explored foreign cities, and was able to (attempt to) learn a new language all by myself and by my own devices.
— Kirkland Dickson, Fall 2015
