Why did you choose this program?
Program Testimonials
The main reason I chose IES Abroad Quito was the program dates. I didn't want my program to take up part of my summer, but as I looked more into the program I liked more than the dates. I really wanted to experience South America instead of going to Spain, where I may have had more of an "Americanized" experience and it might would have been easier for me to avoid speaking Spanish.

What was your favorite aspect of this program?
Program Testimonials
I don't know if I can really pick a favorite aspect. The IES staff was amazing - very helpful and so fun when we traveled. The program trips were one-in-a-lifetime experiences. Most of the professors were great too - in fact, there were a couple that I would have brought back with me to Wofford if it were possible.

What was your housing situation like?
Program Testimonials
I lived with a host family - a mom, dad, and 3 siblings who were older than me. Several of my program friends struggled with overbearing/overprotective host parents, but I didn't have that problem. My situation was actually pretty ideal, I believe. My family were super nice and always there to give me advice or help me with whatever I needed. They included me in meals and outings as well, but they never gave me a hard time about going out with or traveling with my friends. Basically, as long as I let my host mom know whether I was eating at home or not, she was fine with whatever I did.

What was your favorite class and why?
Program Testimonials
I loved my Spanish grammar class. The professor was AMAZING - super fun but effective as well. I learned and improved more in that class than I have in any other Spanish class.

What did you gain from studying abroad?
Program Testimonials
I learned more about Ecuador and the Latin American culture as a whole, I made great friends, improved my Spanish, and got to see and experience things when I traveled that I probably wouldn't have been able to otherwise, and I'll never forget any of it!
