Budget estimate based on Fall 2023 fees (Updated 3/18/2023)
For program dates: September 4 - December 16, 2023 **

1. Housing & Included Meals: Housing cost and included meals vary by housing type. The figure above is for students staying in an Apartment. Students who choose the Homestay option are charged an additional $750 after the program begins. No meals are included in the Apartments; 14 meals per week are included in Homestays.

2. Location Transportation: Amount includes round-trip bus fare from Florence for program arrival and departure.

3. Educational Travel: Optional IES field trip costs range from $50 - $250.

4. Visa: Figure includes consular fees ($65), Wofford visa processing fee ($75), and on-site residency permit ($150). The Residency Permit Fees are paid on-site to the Italian Government (if applicable).

5. Passport: The estimated cost above includes the $60 fee for expedited service. Due to COVID-19 and its impact on the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. State Department is currently experiencing delays in receiving passport applications with routine processing service estimated to take as long as 11 weeks. We, therefore, recommend that students send their application using USPS’ Priority Mail Express and consider requesting expedited service if able. Click here for more information on securing a passport.

6. Meals: The out-of-pocket cost of meals varies by housing type. The figure above is for those staying in an Apartment, with no meals provided. Students staying in a Homestay should budget $2,050 for meals during the semester, since 14 meals per week are included.

Please note you may have additional expenses related to required or recommended immunizations. The Wofford College Office of International Programs urges you to consult our program materials, the Centers for Disease Control website, and your healthcare provider to assess such needs.

Your actual costs will vary from this estimate prepared by the Office of International Programs. Please compare this estimate to the information that you receive from your program and personalize it based on your chosen program options and personal plans. The Financial Aid Office utilizes this cost estimate when approving scholarships, grants and student loans for use when studying away from campus. All of the above expenses with the exception of independent travel and personal expenses may be used in configuring your financial aid package. Once you are admitted, you may contact the Financial Aid Office with questions regarding your financial aid package.
