For program dates: Feb. 26 - June 15, 2024**; see IES website university courses or research assistantship departure dates.

1. Additional billable fees: There are additional fees for and optional modular course ($600) or a post-program research assistantship ($1,000).

2. Housing & Included Meals: No meals are included in the student residence halls or private apartment. 

3. Airfare: Figure includes $85 for one-way transportation from airport to Freiburg.

4.  Local Transportation: Costs range from $190 - $290.

5.  Educational Travel: Optional IES field trips range from $80 - $170.

6. Visa: Fee includes on-site Visa Extension fee ($100) and Biometric photo fee ($15), both invoiced by IES after arrival onsite.

7. Additional meals: Estimates above are for students in IES courses only.  Those staying for the Optional Modular Course or Post-program Research Assistantship should budget an additional $670 for a total of $3,470 in additional meal costs.

Please note you may have additional expenses related to required or recommended immunizations. The Wofford College Office of International Programs urges you to consult our program materials, the Centers for Disease Control website, and your healthcare provider to assess such needs.

Your actual costs will vary from this estimate prepared by the Office of International Programs. Please compare this estimate to the information that you receive from your program and personalize it based on your chosen program options and personal plans. The Financial Aid Office utilizes this cost estimate when approving scholarships, grants and student loans for use when studying away from campus. All of the above expenses with the exception of independent travel and personal expenses may be used in configuring your financial aid package. Once you are admitted, you may contact the Financial Aid Office with questions regarding your financial aid package.
