1. Housing & Included Meals: 14 meals/week are included with the homestays.

2. Visa: Figure includes required Background Check fee (paid with application) of $40, required consular and visa fees (paid to consulate) of $150, and the Registration of Foreigners Certificate (charged if the student has spent extensive time in Ecuador prior to the program start date) of $150.

3. Books: IES estimates textbooks and course materials range from $20 - $315, depending on course selection.

4. Other: Figure includes required National Park Entrance fee of $100, required PADI Open Water Diving Certification for students planning to SCUBA dive in the Galapagos (completed by student prior to departure from U.S.) that ranges from $200 - $600, and the required Diving Accident Insurance (DAN) plan for students planning to SCUBA dive during program (purchased by student prior to departure from U.S.; includes required $35 DAN membership fee) that ranges from  $110 - $160.

Please note you may have additional expenses related to required or recommended immunizations (yellow fever). The Wofford College Office of International Programs urges you to consult your program materials, the Centers for Disease Control website, and your healthcare provider to assess such needs. Please note that IES specifically recommends the yellow fever vaccination before traveling to Ecuador. 

Your actual costs will vary from this estimate prepared by the Office of International Programs. Please compare this estimate to the information that you receive from your program and personalize it based on your chosen program options and personal plans. The Financial Aid Office utilizes this cost estimate when approving scholarships, grants and student loans for use when studying away from campus. All of the above expenses with the exception of independent travel and personal expenses may be used in configuring your financial aid package. Once you are admitted, you may contact the Financial Aid Office with questions regarding your financial aid package.
