Budget estimate based on Spring 2023 fees (Updated 10/17/22)
For dates: January 16 - May 12, 2023 **

1.  Additional Billable Fees: The cost of two business-related courses at partner institutions is covered in the IES program fee. Students cover all additional fees. See Partner Institution Guide for further information.

2.  Housing & Meals: The figure above is for those staying in a double occupancy Apartment or Residence Hall or a Homestay.  Students who opt for a single room in an Apartment, Premium Residence Hall, or Honor Residence Hall are billed the additional $500 supplemental fees approximately one month after the program begins. No meals are provided in the Apartments or Premium Residence Hall.  Homestays include 12 meals per week and the Honors Residence Hall includes 16 meals per week.  See below for additional meal cost estimates.

3.  Educational Travel: IES optional field trips range from $250 - $500.

4.  Visa: Figure includes consular fees ($50.50) and Wofford visa processing fee ($75).

5.  Books & Supplies: Textbooks and course packets range from $50 - $100.

6.  Passport: The estimated cost above includes the $60 fee for expedited service. Due to COVID-19 and its impact on the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. State Department is currently experiencing delays in receiving passport applications with routine processing service estimated to take as long as 11 weeks. We, therefore, recommend that students send their application using USPS’ Priority Mail Express and consider requesting expedited service if you able. Click here for more information on securing a passport.

7.  Additional Meals: The out-of-pocket cost of additional meals varies by housing type. The figure above is for those staying in an Apartment (single or double occupancy) or Premium Residence Hall, which provide no meals. Those staying in a Honors Residence Hall  (with 16 meals/week) should budget a total of $1,600 for the semester and those in a Homestay (with 14 meals/week) should budget a total of $2,050 for meal costs.

Please note you may have additional expenses related to required or recommended immunizations. The Wofford College Office of International Programs urges you to consult your program materials, the Centers for Disease Control website, and your healthcare provider to assess such needs.

Pre-departure testing requirements depend upon your program's airline and destination requirements for boarding and entry. Your program should inform you of any requirements before your departure. COVID-19 testing costs vary based on the type of test and the testing facility and may be free with proof of insurance or under a federal program for the uninsured. See a list of U.S. COVID-19 testing locations for more information.

Your actual costs will vary from this estimate prepared by the Office of International Programs. Please compare this estimate to the information that you receive from your program and personalize it based on your chosen program options and personal plans. The Financial Aid Office utilizes this cost estimate when approving scholarships, grants and student loans for use when studying away from campus. All of the above expenses with the exception of independent travel and personal expenses may be used in configuring your financial aid package. Once you are admitted, you may contact the Financial Aid Office with questions regarding your financial aid package.
