CIEE - Barcelona: International Marketing
What will you need to succeed in an increasingly globalized economy? Pack your January with business insights and experiences that will give you a leg up in the job market and offer memories you’ll never forget. CIEE’s January Business and Culture program in Barcelona allows you to discover a new culture and gain critical global perspective, all while earning credits toward your degree. Study abroad in Spain and you will:
- Explore the region of Catalonia and surrounding provinces with exciting day and overnight trips
- Take a class on international marketing (in English)
- Live with a Spanish family or in a student residencia
- Explore the city and immerse yourself in local culture with CIEE-organized activities
Students will enroll in JAN 420 A for Interim. This course is designed to enhance the student’s understanding and appreciation of the importance and relevance of international marketing in today’s global economy. The course emphasizes the knowledge of world geography, regional alliances/conflicts, and cultural diversity in the world. It approaches the complexity of marketing environs and decisions, and the global marketing issues that challenge American companies. It focuses on marketing strategy, development, and implementation.
This project is graded A-F.
Students can choose to live in a Spanish homestay (one or two CIEE students per home) or in a student residencia (residence hall) with other Spanish and international students. Each student will be placed in a single room no matter what option he or she chooses. These are located in urban settings throughout the city.
Students living in a homestay will have breakfast and dinner provided at home, while lunch is at the students’ expense. Kitchen space is allowed to students should they wish to make lunch to bring to campus. Students in homestays will have their laundry done for them once a week. Meals and laundry are not included in the student residencia option, but students share fully equipped kitchens where they can prepare their own meals, and laundry facilities are available. All homestays and residencias are located in the city of Barcelona and within 30 minutes, by public transportation, of the CIEE Study Center.
As slots in residencies may be limited, students who are not assigned the housing option of their choice are notified by the resident staff prior to arriving in Barcelona.

Wofford Travel Grants
The Wofford College Travel Grants provide assistance to students who are participating in an Interim Travel/Study program. Financial need and academic merit are the principle considerations in awarding these grants. Please note that an application for a Wofford Travel Grant does not substitute for the Travel/Study project application for Interim.
To be eligible to apply for a Travel Grant, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (except first-year students applying in the fall) and be in good social and academic standing with the College. Awards range from $500 - $1,500. The number of awards granted will depend upon the number of applicants as well as available funds. The award is directly applied to the applicant's program fees. To apply, complete the online Wofford College Travel Grant application
